Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-29. Version 2026-10-29.2.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sunridge Labs LLC ("we," "us") collects through the Sunbell mobile application (the "App"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

In short: your alarms, phrases, sound mixes, and sleep records are stored on your phone. We do not sell your personal information. Sleep sounds you record never leave your phone. The App has no ads and does not track you for advertising.

1Information stored only on your device

The following stays on your device and is not sent to us unless you choose to create an account and back it up (see Section 5):

  • Your name or nickname, language, and settings.
  • Your alarms, chosen phrases, your own written phrases, favorites, and sound mixes.
  • Sleep records the App estimates from your phone's motion sensor and, if you turn it on, the microphone (times you likely fell asleep and woke up, scores, estimated stages, and short sound clips).
  • Ratings and comments you write in the App (until you choose to send them).

You can delete this information at any time in the App (Me > Privacy > Delete all my data) or by deleting the App.

Record of your acceptance. When you accept the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy, the App creates a record of that acceptance: the version you accepted, the date and time, the language, the App version, and the type of device (iPhone or Android), linked to a random identifier created by the App, not to your name. The record is kept on your device and may also be sent to our servers so we can keep proof that you accepted. If you have an account, the record on our servers is also linked to your account (including acceptances made earlier on the same device). It never includes your alarms, phrases, sleep data, or recordings.

2Sensors, microphone, and health data

Motion. If you turn on sleep tracking, the App reads your phone's motion sensor while Sleep mode is on, to estimate your sleep and, if you turn on smart wake-up, to ring a little earlier when you are in light sleep. If you choose "Shake the phone" to turn off an alarm, the App also reads the sensor while that alarm rings, only to count the shakes. This data is processed on your device and is not uploaded.

Battery. In Sleep mode, the App checks whether your phone is charging, only to remind you to plug it in. This stays on your phone.

Microphone (optional, off by default). If you turn it on, the App listens only while Sleep mode is open, starting after your sleep sounds turn off. It uses the sound level and its pattern (not the words) to detect sounds such as snoring, coughing, or talking in your sleep, and to help estimate your sleep stages. If "Record the sounds of the night" is on and you have Premium (or are in the free trial), the App saves short clips (about 15 seconds) of those sounds so you can listen to them in the morning; all other audio is deleted right away. Audio is processed and stored only on your device; we do not upload, listen to, or share it. Saved clips are deleted automatically after 7 days, and you can delete them sooner in the App (Me > Privacy). The microphone can pick up other people in the room; please let them know and do not use the feature to record conversations.

Apple Health and Health Connect (optional). If this feature is available and you allow it, the App may read sleep data (and, if you allow it, heart rate) that your watch or ring saves to Apple Health or Health Connect, to show more precise sleep information. We use this data only to provide features in the App. We do not use it for advertising or marketing, do not sell it, do not share it with data brokers, and do not store it on our servers.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, the App schedules alarm notifications on your device. This does not send personal information to us.

3Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google. They handle your payment details; we never receive your card number. We receive limited purchase information from the app store (and from our subscription management provider, RevenueCat), such as a purchase token, product, purchase and renewal dates, and subscription status, so we can unlock Premium and help with restore requests. This information is linked to the random identifier the App creates for your device (the same one used for the record of your acceptance of the Terms), not to your name. If you have an account, we may also note your account identifier with it.

4No advertising

The App does not show ads, in the free version or in Premium, and does not include any advertising network or advertising identifier. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not ask for permission to track you across apps and websites of other companies.

5Accounts (if offered)

You can use the App without an account. If we offer accounts and you create one (with Sign in with Apple, Google, or email), we will collect your email address (or the private relay address Apple provides) and an account identifier, and store a backup of your App data (alarms, phrases, mixes, settings, and sleep records, but never your sound recordings) with our hosting provider, Supabase, on servers in the United States, to sync it across your devices. If you sign up with email, we send you a link or a 6-digit code to confirm it, and your password is stored only in encrypted (hashed) form. On your phone, your sign-in session is kept in the phone's secure storage (the iPhone Keychain or the Android Keystore). The backup updates automatically after changes while you are signed in. You can sign out, or delete your account and its backup, from within the App at any time (Me > Account).

6Crash reports

The App does not collect usage analytics and does not include any analytics service. If you agreed in your device settings to share crash reports with app developers, Apple or Google may share them with us. These reports help us fix errors and do not include your name or the content of your sleep records.

7Support, feedback, and the waitlist

If you contact us by email or send feedback, we receive your email address and what you write, and use it to answer you and improve the App.

Waitlist. If you sign up on our website to be told when the App is available, we receive your email address, the language of the page, and the date you signed up. We use your email only to tell you that the App is available and about its launch. We do not sell it or use it for anything else. You can ask us to remove it at any time at [email protected], and we delete the list within 12 months after the App launches.

8How we use information

We use information to: provide and improve the App; ring alarms and show your phrases; estimate sleep; unlock and restore Premium; answer support requests; prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with law.

9How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only: (a) with service providers who help us run the App (such as app stores, the subscription management provider, and the hosting provider), under contracts that limit their use of it; (b) when required by law or to protect rights and safety; and (c) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.

10Retention

Information on your device stays until you delete it or the App. Purchase records are kept as long as needed to provide Premium and meet legal and tax obligations. Account data is kept until you delete your account, and then deleted within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it. Saved sound clips are deleted from your device after 7 days. Support emails are kept up to 2 years. Waitlist emails are deleted within 12 months after the App launches. Records of your acceptance of the Terms and this policy are kept as long as we may need them to show that you accepted, even if you delete the App.

11Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information. Data on your device is protected by your device's security; please use a passcode. Information sent between the App or our website and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and each account can only reach its own backup.

To protect our servers from abuse (for example, someone sending thousands of requests), our servers count how many requests come from each connection per minute. For this they keep a one-way code made from the network (IP) address together with a secret key, never the address itself, and delete it automatically, normally within a few hours. This code is not linked to your account or used for anything else.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

12Your choices and rights

  • Permissions: you can turn notifications, motion, microphone, and health access on or off in the App and in your device settings.
  • Delete: you can delete all App data from Me > Privacy, and delete your account (if any) from within the App.
  • Requests: depending on the state where you live (for example California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling. You can make a request at [email protected]. We will verify your request, answer within the time the law requires, and not discriminate against you for using your rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our answer. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission.
  • Global Privacy Control: where required by law, we treat a recognized opt-out signal as a request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser or device.

13Children

The App is only for people 18 and older. It is not directed to children or teenagers, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, including children under 13. If you believe someone under 18 has given us personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

14Where information is processed

The App is offered in the United States. Information we or our providers handle is processed in the United States.

15Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you in the App before they take effect and, where required, ask for your consent.
